AN ELDERLY man was left badly shaken after a robber took his wallet and pushed him to the ground.

The victim, 67, was walking in Court Lane, Cosham, at around 11pm when he was approached by a man and asked if he could change some money.

He took out his wallet but was shoved to the ground and had the wallet, containing £30, snatched from his hand by a man who ran off down Gofton Avenue. Police are looking for an unshaven white man with a local accent who is 5ft 7in, slim, in his late 30s, with balding hair, and was wearing a dark jacket and dark trousers.

The assault was on Tuesday, January 25, and Detective Constable Julie Way said: ‘The victim was uninjured but very shaken by what happened.

‘I’d like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious, or came across a discarded black folded wallet. We would also like to hear from anyone who’s been approached by a man fitting the above description asking if they can change money.’
