A FEARLESS pensioner left a robber empty-handed when she refused to hand over money – despite being threatened with a sharp object and then a log.

The 84-year-old had gone out for a walk on The Heath, off Sussex Road, Petersfield.

Shortly after 7pm, she was approached by a teenager who demanded she hand over her money.

He was holding what appeared to be a sharp implement.

When she refused, he picked up a log and demanded again.

The woman refused again and walked off without handing him anything.

DC Ewan Gardner, from Alton CID, said: ‘Thankfully the woman didn’t come to any harm but was intimidated by the man’s behaviour.

‘We’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened, saw the suspect in the area or has information about who’s responsible.

‘I’m particularly keen to hear from a woman with a child who the victim stopped to speak with afterwards at the play park on Heath Road. That woman may have seen the suspect walk passed and could help us identify him.’

The incident happened on Thursday. The offender was described as white, about 16 years old, around 5ft 6in tall, of slight build, clean shaven. He was wearing a brown zipped hooded top with the hood up, matching brown tracksuit trousers, and brown trainer boots. He carried a flat red implement with a metallic end. Call 101.
