Emsworth pensioner jailed for 18 years for child sex abuse

A PENSIONER who sexually abused a child aged just three has been jailed for 18 years.

Harold Day abused two children in Hampshire between 1990 and 2000.

Day, 79, of Morcumbs Caravan Site, Emsworth, was found guilty of historic child sex abuse yesterday at Southampton Crown Court after a 10-day trial.

Day was convicted of 13 counts of indecent assault against a female under 13, and one count of attempted rape of a girl under the age of 13.

DC Andy Spooner said: ‘Day carried out his crimes in Hampshire between 1990 and 2000 when his victims were aged between three and 13 years old at the time.’

He added: ‘I would like to commend the victims in this investigation for the bravery and courage they have shown.’

He said he hopes its gives the victims closure.
