Ex-sports coach jailed for sexual assaults on boys, including during time at Havant speedway club
A FORMER sports coach has been jailed for a second time for sexual assaults on young boys.
Michael James Green was given a 12-year sentence after being found guilty after a 13-day trial of 17 indecent assaults between 1980 and 1994 against seven boys, then aged between 12 and 16-years-old.
He met one of the boys while involved in coaching junior cycle speedway, in Havant.Â
The 74-year-old committed offences against three others while he was head coach of juniors at the Brighton Ice Hockey Club.
Lewes Crown Court heard three of the victims were indecently assaulted at Windlesham House School in Washington, West Sussex between 1988 and 1994 while Green was a cricket coach, police said.
He had pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
In 2014 Green, of Aldrington Close, Hove, was jailed for nine years for two counts of raping a boy under 16, and two further indecent assaults against other victims between 1981 and 1982.
Green had met them separately in Havant and south London while running junior cycle speedway clubs.
Detective Constable Dawn Robertson, who was involved with both investigations, said:Â '˜Green's 2014 sentence received considerable publicity and as a result these seven further victims came forward to us over the ensuing months.
'˜We have great admiration for their readiness to help see justice done and for giving evidence at Green's trial where he denied the allegations throughout and continues to do so even after conviction, as he did in 2014.'
