Jury told ‘friends thought drug runner shot in turf war ‘was dead’

THE family of missing Portsmouth engineer Nitin Woocheet have been alerted after a body was recovered from the English Channel.

The body of a man was recovered at about 5.50pm last night by the Bembridge Lifeboat, after being spotted in the English Channel off the Isle of Wight by a fishing vessel.

The body has not yet been identified.

At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained.

But police have been in contact with relatives of Mr Woocheet, who vanished after leaving The Fawcett Inn, in Fawcett Road, Southsea, on St Patrick’s Day, following a night out with friends.
