Family pay tribute to Hampshire teenager killed in car collision

The family of a teenager killed when she was hit by a car in Hampshire have paid tribute to their '˜perfect' girl.

Stacey Burrows, 16, was with Lucy Pygott, 17, when they were involved in a collision with a black Ford Focus and killed when out running in Aldershot on Tuesday evening.

In a statement, Stacey’s family said: ‘Words cannot express the pain and sadness we as a family are going through at this tragic time.

‘Stacey really was the perfect daughter and sister - perfect in every possible way.

‘Stacey was highly dedicated to what she loved doing, running for Aldershot, Farnham and District Athletic Club.

‘We as a family know Stacey will be greatly missed by her teammates, coaches and club.

‘It is a tragedy that it has ended so soon for her. Work hard was her motto and that is exactly what she did.

‘Thank you to everyone who helped Stacey during her short life. Please respect our privacy at this difficult time.’

A tribute from Lucy’s family was released last week.

A 24-year-old man arrested in connection with the crash has been confirmed by the Army as a serving soldier.

The soldier was detained on suspicion of two offences of causing death by dangerous driving, two offences of death by careless driving through drink or drugs and the offence of drink-driving.

He was released on Wednesday evening on conditional bail until February 14 2017.
