Family tributes to father with '˜heart of gold' who died after being found on Hayling Island path'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹

Wayne Sheppard's family said they are devastated by his loss after he was found on unlit path close to Inn on the Beach.

The 43-year-old dad, of Spinnaker Close, Hayling, was riding his BMX along the track near the Beachlands Car Park just before midnight on October 10.

A member of the public saw him on the ground and called the emergency services.

Despite resuscitation attempts, keen sportsman Mr Sheppard was later pronounced dead at Queen Alexandra Hospital. 

Police said they are not treating his death as suspicious and a file has been passed to the coroner. 

In a statement, Mr Sheppard's family said: '˜Loving father, heart of gold, loved by all who met him.

'˜Wayne was a devoted member of Hayling Island's water-sports community. An excellent sportsman, he was an extremely talented windsurfer and paddleboarder.

'˜Wayne touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his children.

'˜Rest in peace Wayne, you may be gone but you will live on through the hearts and memories of many.'
