Family's plea as search continues for Hampshire walker missing in Scotland

Edward Davies planned to go for a hike in Glencoe, Lochaber, on Sunday May 8 and has not been heard from since.

Rescue efforts have focused on the Sgurr na h-Ulaidh mountain area, with a helicopter crew and police dogs assisting in the hunt.

Relatives said he would have carried supplies to last him several days but now was a “critical time” for the experienced walker.

They said in a statement: “The weather on Sunday and through the week has been excellent so we still have every hope we can find Edward alive.

“We love Edward very much and are all desperate for his safe return.

“We would urge anyone who was walking in the area weekend of May 7/8th or since to think back and consider any potential sightings of Ed or anything that may assist the search effort.”

Mr Davies is thought to have a small dark grey/green one-man tent with him.

The wildlife enthusiast may have been drawn to particular nature spots beyond the area, his family said.

He is described as white, 5ft 11in, slim, and has cropped dark brown hair which is longer on top.

He is likely to be wearing a blue waterproof RAB jacket and a t-shirt or green Buffalo fleece.

The last known sighting of Mr Davies was on the evening of Saturday May 7 at the Clachaig Inn, Glencoe.

His family said: “Ed’s friends and family wish to thank everyone involved in the search so far especially the police and Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team.

“Their support and determination have been overwhelming.”

Police have not said where in Hampshire Mr Davies is from.
