A FORMER hospital contractor has been ordered to take part in a drug rehabilitation programme after he admitted trying to steal a used syringe from Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

Neil Blackman, 46, of Redlands Lane in Fareham, had also been found guilty after a trial of biting hospital security guard Gareth Fagan on December 22 last year.

The bench at Fareham Magistrates’ Court gave Blackman a nine-month community order with the drug rehabilitation requirement, and ordered him to pay £50 compensation, £175 costs and £60 to a fund for victims of crime.
