Fareham police warn of spate of thefts from cars across Sarisbury and Locks Heath

THIEVES have damaged several cars in a spate of thefts.

Police are investigating thefts from a total of five cars in Sarisbury and Locks Heath across Wednesday and Thursday last week.

The spate began with thieves breaking a car window and taking a handbag from a vehicle in New Park Lodge sometime after 8pm last Wednesday.

Just after 12.30am the following morning, two unknown men entered a car parked on Lind Way – but left empty handed.

The spate continued across Thursday morning, with thieves taking a jacket and wallet from a car in Bridge Road, paperwork from another vehicle in Agincourt Drive, and damaging a car in Beacon Bottom.

At 2.35am, a member of the public reported an ‘unknown person’ trying car door handles in Locks Road, according to a spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary.

She said: ‘The incidents have currently been filed pending further lines of enquiry becoming available.

‘Our neighbourhood policing teams regularly note all reports within their areas, and if further lines of enquiry become available or if any similar reports are made then we will make enquiries to see if the investigation can be progressed.’
