A MAN suffered stab wounds after a fight.

Police have just released details of the incident, which took place in the early hours of Christmas Eve in Childe Square, Stamshaw, Portsmouth.

Police were called to reports of two men fighting in the street between 6.10am and 6.50am.

One man was injured with what officers believe to be a blade and a metal bar.

The injured man was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, for treatment for stab wounds to the left side of his body.

Three cars parked nearby were also damaged in the incident.

Det Con Pete Bambury said: ‘I am aware that a late night party was going on in the road. If anyone living in Childe Square or nearby was woken by this or saw what happened I would urge them to contact us.’

Police have arrested a 50-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, both from Portsmouth, in connection with the incident.

They have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
