Fire at Hayling pub is put out

A FIRE broke out on the roof of a pub.

Firefighters from Havant and Hayling Island were called out after the small fire started on a flat roof at the West Town pub, in Station Road, Hayling.

Two engines arrived at 3.30pm yesterday after being called by the pub’s owners.

Crew manager Ben Holt, from Havant, said: ‘We cut away some of the roof to find out which area was affected by the fire. Then we used water from a bucket to put it out.’ The cause was not known.
