THE first drink-driver in a police crackdown has been arrested.

Police launched Operation Holly on December 1 to catch drink-drivers in the run-up to Christmas.

PC David Wedlake, of Havant district, said the woman was caught in Southwood Road, Hayling Island, on Monday.

He said: ‘A 47-year-old local female was stopped on Southwood Road. After initially failing to provide a sample of breath she later provided a reading of 75 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.’

He added: ‘It is not worth the risk to someone’s life.’
