Five Gosport teenagers charged with threatening to spit at staff in McColl's store

A GROUP of young people from Gosport have been charged with 25 offences – including threatening to spit at convenience store staff.

The five teenagers have been charged in connection with incidents across Fareham and Gosport last week.

On March 24, a group of boys threatened to spit at a member of staff in McColl’s in Hunts Pond Road, Titchfield Common.

On March 26, a group of boys allegedly smashed a glass door at the One Stop in Elson Road, Gosport.

On March 27, a group of boys were confronted by a member of staff in the One Stop on White Hart Lane, Fareham, for alleged shoplifting. During this incident, it is alleged that one of the boys tried to hit the member of staff before the group smashed a glass door at the shop.

Police have charged two 15-year-old boys, two 14-year old boys and a 13-year-old boy.

The first 15-year-old has been charged with three counts of common assault, two thefts from a shop, one count of criminal damage and one count of using threatening or abusive behaviour with intent.

The other 15-year-old is charged with two counts of theft from a shop and two counts of common assault.

A 14-year-old boy received the same charges.

All three have been bailed to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on April 27.

The second 14-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of theft from a shop, one count of criminal damage and one count of common assault.

The 13-year-old is charged with two counts of criminal damage and three counts of common assault.

Both are on bail to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on May 4.
