FIVE men quizzed on suspicion of murdering a teenager almost 15 years ago have been re-bailed.

Damien Nettles, 16, disappeared after a night out in West Cowes on the Isle of Wight on November 2, 1996.

He has never been found.

Police arrested five men – four from the Isle of Wight and a 40-year-old man from Gravesend in Kent in connection with Damien’s disappearance in May.

The Isle of Wight suspects are a 48-year-old Sandown man, a 45-year-old from Cowes, a 50-year-old from Newport and a 37-year-old man from Ryde.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘Police can confirm five men arrested on May 10, 2011 on suspicion of murdering missing Isle of Wight teenager Damien Nettles in 1996 answered police bail on Wednesday, September 14.’

All five men were re-bailed until February 1, 2012 pending further enquiries.
