Flick's sadness for Jo Cox

A PORTSMOUTH MP came close to tears as she spoke of the death of Jo Cox.

Flick Drummond, Portsmouth South MP, was paying tribute to the MP for Batley and Spen, who was shot and stabbed yesterday.

The Labour MP had been holding a constituency surgery in a library when she was attacked.

Speaking on BBC South Mrs Drummond said: ‘I think we’re all going to reflect on the awfulness because we’re all out there on the streets on whether you want to stay in or leave the European Union it actually puts it into context now that life really is really more important.’

Her voice breaking with emotion, she added: ‘We’re all very sad.’

A 52-year-old man was arrested, West Yorkshire police said yesterday.
