A MAN was arrested last night after he was clinging on to a moving car.

The 38-year-old man from Fareham was arrested on suspicion of causing damage to a motor vehicle, in the Quay Street Car Park, Fareham.

Police say that during the incident, it is believed the male was holding onto the vehicle, while it was driven through the car park.

The driver stopped outside of the nearby Poundland store, and checked with onlookers, for anyone that had called the police.

Officers arrived and arrested the man, who has been bailed to return to the police station at a future date, while police continue their investigation.

The incident happened at 6pm yesterday.

At the time, there were reportedly several members of the public who may have witnessed the incident.

The police are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to make contact to assist us with the investigation.

Furthermore, if anyone has any footage of what happened on their phones or available to view, again, the police would be interested in seeing this.
