POLICE are continuing to investigate the reasons why a 34-year-old man was found unconscious in a Portsmouth street.

As previously reported in The News, the man, of no fixed abode, was found outside Windsor House in Canal Walk, Landport, shortly after 10pm on Tuesday.

He was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, but later transferred to Southampton General Hospital.

Police say he remains there in a serious but stable condition.

At the time, officers were considering whether it was linked to another incident off Albert Road earlier in the day, but this has now been dismissed.

Two men aged 31 and 36, both of no fixed abode, were arrested by police on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

They have been bailed pending further enquiries until April 3.

A 20-year-old man from Barton-on-Sea has also been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

He has been bailed until April 22 pending further enquiries.
