POLICE have said there is no risk to the public after a woman’s body was found in the presence of a ‘gas’ on Sunday evening.

Hampshire Constabulary was called to an address in Arundel Drive, Fareham, at around 8pm.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A gas was found inside the address. The type of gas has not been revealed.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene as a precaution.

The woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious and no criminal offences have been identified.

Emergency services have concluded the substance did not pose any risk to neighbours.

Police have said there is no evidence to suggest a wider risk to the public.

Her next-of-kin have been informed and a post-mortem will be conducted.

Detectives are now working on behalf of HM Coroner to confirm the exact cause of death.

A spokesman said: ‘We are not in a position to name the deceased woman until all formal identification procedures are completed.

‘We’d like to thank South Central Ambulance Service and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service for their assistance.’
