A 10-YEAR-OLD girl was grabbed by two youths while a third threatened her with a knife.
The young victim was on her bike at the junction of Bettesworth Road and Ernest Road, in Portsmouth, when she was stopped by three male teenagers.
Police say two of them held her arms while the third produced a knife and threatened her.
They only ran off when a man, who is described as being aged in his 50s with short grey hair, intervened.
Police are now appealing for him and other witnesses to come forward in a bid to bring the boys to justice.
PC James Scott said: ‘This was a particularly distressing incident for the victim who was only 10 years old.
‘Did you see these youths in the area at the time of the incident, or were you the member of the public who intervened?
‘We are very keen to speak to the man who intervened as he may have vital information about the offenders and could assist with our inquiry. I would urge anyone with any information about this incident to come forward as soon as possible.’
The boys, who are all white, ran off in the direction of Ernest Road after the attack which took place between 4.30pm and 4.45pm on Tuesday, November 22.
Police have only just released the details.
One is described as being aged 15 to 16, 5ft 8-9ins, with thin lips and wearing a black hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms with white stripes down the leg.
The victim’s descriptions of the other two suspects are limited.
Both had ‘fat lips’, with one having a blue sleeve, while the other had a grey sleeve.
