POLICE are appealing for more witnesses to come forward after a man suffered a serious head injury in an alleged assault outside a Portsmouth night spot.

A 31-year-old man from Southsea was attacked by another man outside the Drift in the City bar in Isambard Brunel Road betweem 1am and 1.15am on Saturday.

He was taken to hospital to receive specialist treatment for his injuries, which officers say are not believed to be life–threatening.

A 19–year–old man from Gosport was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and later bailed after questioning.
