A MAN has appeared in court charged with perverting the court of justice following a car crash.

Matt Styler, 35, of Monks Walk, Gosport, was at Fareham Magistrates’ Court on one count of perverting the course of justice, two counts of grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, driving above the alcohol limit and failing to stop.

Two women were struck by a blue Vauxhall Astra as they crossed Stoke Road in Gosport at around 11.15pm on Saturday, July 2.

One of the women, a 20-year-old from Fareham, suffered what were initially said to be life-threatening injuries, the other, a 19-year-old from Gosport, suffered serious injuries. They are still recovering.

Styler was committed to appear for trial at Portsmouth Crown Court on April 10.
