MAGISTRATES have fined a man for possessing cannabis.

Matthew Thomas pleaded guilty to having the class B drug on him in Grange Lane, Gosport.

The 22-year-old also pleaded guilty to a charge of having seven Valium tablets – a class C drug – on him in at his home in Mountbatten Close, Gosport, on the same day.

Thomas was fined £100 and told to pay £15 to a fund for crime victims and £30 in court costs.

Fareham magistrates made an order for the drugs to be forfeited and destroyed under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
