A MAN who murdered his wife’s lover by stabbing him in the heart with a steak knife on Christmas Eve has been jailed for life.

Marc Lindsey, 35, killed Eddie Vials, after it had been revealed earlier in the evening that Mr Vials had been having an affair with Laura Lindsey.

Mr Vials had come to the Lindsey’s home in Hill Park Road, Gosport, where the two got into a fight in the entrance hallway.

Mr Vials died as the result of a single stab wound through his chest and into his heart.

Following a week-long trial at Winchester Crown Court, the jury took just over three hours to reach a unanimous verdict that Lindsey was guilty of murder.

The judge, Honorable Mr Justice Bennett sentenced him to life, and he must serve a minimum of 18 years before he can be considered for parole.

He said: ‘I have come to the conclusion that I cannot be sure you intended to kill Eddie, rather than cause him really serious harm.

‘I approach the case on the basis that having determined to stab him in the moments after he arrived at your home, you did not care at that moment whether he lived or died.’

He added: ‘Taking account of all these matters and all I have heard, my conclusion is that the minimum term in your case must be one of 18 years.’
