A MAN has been jailed after taking a knife into a street.

Kevin Hazzard, of Sunningdale Close, Gosport, admitted having a bladed article in a public place.

The 34-year-old had the knife in Mantle Close, Gosport, on February 2 at 2.25pm.

Portsmouth magistrates jailed him for six months due to his mental state having the knife in dangerous circumstances.

Magistrates said there was every risk it could have been used.

He must pay a victim surcharge of £80.

The knife will be forfeited and destroyed.
