THE trial of a man accused of biting a doctor who was trying to help him has been delayed.

Mark Bucksey was due to stand trial at Portsmouth Crown Court this week on a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The 24-year-old is alleged to have bitten Dr Alex Stoker’s ear at Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, on January 19, last year.

Bucksey, of Bournemouth Avenue, Gosport, has pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Wearing a shirt, tie and dark trousers he appeared at court for the start of his trial but the hearing had to be adjourned because one of the prosecution witnesses was not available because he had to go to hospital.

Bucksey was released on unconditional bail and is now due to stand trial on August 15.
