Neighbours have told of their shock after a boy was arrested over the death of a man at a house in a quiet residential street.
A boy, 16, was held on suspicion of murder after the death of a 54-year-old man in Southcroft Road, Gosport.
Police tape is cordoning off the driveway to a white-walled detached bungalow, with a Skoda still parked in the drive.
A forensics van is parked opposite the bungalow, with detectives from Hampshire police’s major crime team going door to door.
The arrested teenage is still being quizzed by police.
Nearby resident Susan Orchard, 58, of Kingston Road, said: ‘It’s dreadful, we’ve lived here for 30 years and it’s the first time we’ve had a murder around here.’
Her husband David, 67, said the family at the address were not well known.
Mr Orchard said: ‘They’re quiet, they keep themselves to themselves. They really don’t talk a lot.’
Police have not confirmed the age of the man who has died.
