Gosport pensioner dies from head injuries after row with cyclist

A PENSIONER has died following a dispute with a cyclist in Gosport.

Roy Galvin, 69, hit his head in Bury Road at 5.50pm on Sunday, September 25.

It happened after the cyclist pushed him over following a dispute over cycling on the pavement.

Mr Galvin, from Alverstoke, who was with his wife who uses a mobility scooter, was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital after an ambulance and police arrived at the scene. He died at 8:15am today.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We can now confirm that the 69-year-old man who hit his head on the road following a dispute in Bury Road, Gosport on Sunday has died.’

n Duncan Snellgrove, 28, of Howe Road, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with manslaughter and causing grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded into custody to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on October 31.
