SHOPLIFTER Jayne Downes has been told to get help for her drug addiction.

The 35-year-old, from Samson Close, Gosport, pleaded guilty to stealing make-up worth £510.73 from a Boots store in High Street, Lee-on-the-Solent, on May 14.

Downes also pleaded guilty to stealing £37.05 worth of goods from The Range in Gunners Way, Gosport, on June 18.

She was sentenced to 56 days in jail, suspended for 12 months, by Fareham magistrates.

Downes will be under supervision for 12 months.

And she was also ordered to undergo nine months of treatment for her drug dependency as a non-resident patient.

Magistrates will review the drug rehabilitation requirement throughout the period.

No order for costs or compensation was made as the stolen goods were recovered.
