A VETERAN has been left devastated after heartless burglars raided his Gosport home and stole his Royal Navy medals.

Police are investigating after the 71-year-old retired naval officer’s silver honours were taken from a residential property over the weekend.

The victim had intended to pass them on to his grandson, but they were part of a callous haul from an address in White Lion Walk between Friday, September 14 and Sunday, September 16.

A 32in Polaroid television, a Hitachi DVD player, Barr and Stroud binoculars, cash, food and alcohol were also taken.

Officers have said all the medals taken carry the victim’s service number, D085789T.

They are described as being a Nato medal from the conflict with the former Yugoslavia, a long service and good conduct medal and a meritorious medal from the Ministry of Defence.

Anyone with information on the crime should contact police on 101, quoting the crime reference number 44180350157.
