Habitual thief who stole £290 of fragrances banned from Fareham

A THIEF who stole more than £540 worth of goods across Fareham town centre earlier this year has been banned from the entire borough.

James Durber, of no fixed address, stole £296 worth of fragrances from Boots in Fareham Shopping Centre, as well a £250 bike in West Street, across June 19 and June 21.

He was arrested on June 26, and three days later pleaded guilty to the thefts – as well as criminal damage inflicted on a CCTV camera – at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He appeared at the same court on July 29, where he was handed a nine-month community order and a nine-month order banning from entering the borough of Fareham.

The 36-year-old was also order to pay £200 compensation to the owner of the stolen bike.

Durber will also have to complete a 10 day rehabilitation activity as part of his sentence.
