A 19-YEAR-OLD from Hampshire has been arrested over an offensive online comment made about Edinburgh toddler Mikaeel Kular, who was found dead on Friday night.

The Facebook comment was made on Saturday night and was deemed racially offensive.

A Hampshire police spokesman did not reveal which part of the county the man was from and said: ‘We are investigating the message to assess whether any criminal offences have been committed.

‘A 19-year-old man was arrested in Hampshire on Saturday night on suspicion of publishing written material to stir up racial hatred.

‘He was questioned at a police station in Hampshire and later released on police bail until the last week in January pending further enquiries. Hampshire Constabulary is in contact with Police Scotland about this investigation.’

The mother of Mikaeel, 33-year-old Rosdeep Kular, has been charged in connection with his death and is due to appear in court on Monday.

His body was discovered in woods near Kirkcaldy, Fife after a massive hunt involving hundreds of volunteers.
