POLICE believe two burglaries in Lee-on-the-Solent are linked.

At about 8.30pm last Wednesday, someone smashed the side window of a car parked in Seymour Road and stole a handbag.

After they discovered no items of value inside the bag the bag was discarded in Westland Drive.

Then at about 9pm, someone entered the back of a property in Westland Drive and stole another handbag by opening an unsecured door to the kitchen.

Dave Lynn is an investigating officer for the Fareham and Gosport Priority Crime Team.

He said: ‘I would be interested in hearing from anyone who might recall seeing or hearing one or more people acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incidents.

‘Please be mindful not to leave items of value in your cars and lock and secure your property even if you are inside.’

Anyone with information can contact PC Lynn at Fareham Police Station by phoning 101.

Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
