Hard-working probation officers get awards for helping offenders

Roy Phillips was one of three people handed prestigious Butler Trust certificates.

He is a member of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Rehabilitation Company.

Roy runs the About Turn project in Gosport, which also runs in Aldershot, Basingstoke, Waterlooville, Havant, and Andover.

It helps members of the community tackle substance misuse.

Hundreds of service users have been helped in the weekly group sessions in the past four years.

Popi Daouti, an engagement officer, and Heather Brider, a probation officer, also won awards.

The CRC chief executive Mary D’Arcy, said: ‘I am very proud of Roy, Popi and Heather.

‘They are all worthy recipients of The Butler Trust certificates.

‘Their drive and passion shines through and they have secured the support of partners and participants in their respective projects.

‘They continue to develop new ways to help service users to make positive changes in their lives and to become fully engaged members of their communities.’

Director of The Butler Trust, Simon Shepherd, added: ‘I am delighted to present Butler Trust Certificates to Roy, Popi and Heather in recognition of the work they have done to help so many people involved in the criminal justice system.

‘Their projects benefit not just offenders, but their families and communities.’
