A MAN charged with making indecent images of children and a string of sex offences against a girl aged under 13 has appeared in court.

Timothy Hankins, from Beach Road, Hayling Island, is accused of one count of raping the girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

The 52-year-old is also charged with two counts of sexually assaulting the girl.

And Hankins faces two further two charges of sexually assaulting the girl by penetration.

Hankins also faces one charge of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child aged under 13.

And he is accused of a seventh charge of making indecent images of children.

All of the offences are alleged to have taken place between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2012.

Hankins did not enter a plea to any of the charges he faces when he appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.

He was released on bail following the short hearing yesterday.

Hankins is now due to reappear at Portsmouth Crown Court hearing on November 25 where he is expected to enter a plea to the charges against him.
