EX-FORCES personnel are wanted to support serving and former servicemen and women who have found themselves on the wrong side of the law.

Hampshire Probation Trust is calling for volunteers to take part in the new Veteran Mentors Scheme.

They will work with offenders to make sure they get the support they need to break the cycle of crime.

Brian Leigh, veteran mentors co-ordinator for Hampshire Probation Trust, said: ‘We are looking for people who have served in the forces, to be trained as peer mentors to work with forces and ex-forces personnel who are on probation orders or being released from prison.

‘Many forces personnel find it very difficult to rehabilitate back into society and some end up on probation orders or in prison.’

Mentors will be trained and receive travel expenses.
