DETECTIVES investigating historic sex abuse allegations are appealing for anyone involved with a defunct Cycle Speedway Club to get in touch.

The club, in Havant, was open next to Oak Park Senior School in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

A 69-year-old Hove man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a young boy in Havant and Brighton in 1981.

He has been bailed until May 29 pending further inquiries but police want to talk to anyone involved with the club at the time.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: ‘Although every case is assessed on its individual merits, we will always follow up allegations of sexual abuse of children regardless of how long ago they are said to have happened.

‘Anyone who wants to report alleged offending of this type can contact us at any time.’

Call Sussex Police on 101 quoting reference 0808 of February 10.
