A MAN who had thousands of indecent images of children has appeared in court.

Victor Wright, 70, of Cheltenham Road, Portsmouth, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court facing 21 different charges, 16 of possessing indecent photographs of children, three of possessing extreme pornographic images, one of possessing a prohibited image of a child and one of failing to surrender to court.

He pleaded guilty to all the charges, including failing to turn up at court on May 24.

The court heard how Wright had hoarding tendencies and had lost the court summons in his house. He was fined £250 for that, with a victim surcharge of £25, and £85 costs.

Wright was committed to the crown court for the other 20 charges.

He was released on unconditional bail until July 10.
