JEWELLERY and cash was stolen from an elderly couple’s home in Gosport.

Police are investigating the burglary at a house on The Avenue, Alverstoke, which happened between 10.30am on Monday and 3pm on Wednesday last week.

The distraught pensioners had gone away for a couple of days and returned home to find their property had been broken into.

Detective Constable Tara Magnus last night appealed to the public for information.

She said: ‘Did you see or hear anything that may be connected to this burglary? Have you seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area recently? Have you heard about the burglary or have you been offered any of the stolen property?’

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call Gosport CID by phoning 101.
