Portsmouth pub boss tells of his pride in staff who saved attack victim

POLICE say they are concerned about a man who has been missing for over a week.

The last sighting of Ben Hilton, 33, from Eastleigh, was at Portsmouth Harbour train station on Friday, June 8.

He attended a wedding reception at The Roebuck pub in Winchester and was then seen by a friend boarding a train at Winchester train station at 9.16pm.

Mr Hilton arrived at Portsmouth Harbour train station where he was seen on CCTV. He was alone.

Mr Hilton was seen on the staff side of the Wightlink catamaran jetty at Portsmouth Harbour at 10.18pm.

Detective Inspector Dave Morgan said: ‘That evening was the date of the opening match in the Euro 2012 football tournament.

‘We know there were some fishermen on the pontoon of the Gosport Ferry in Portsmouth Harbour at the time of the last confirmed sighting of Ben. We’d like to hear from these men. We have also had an unconfirmed sighting of Ben close to his home address on Sunday, June 10. If you saw him on that date, or since 9pm on Friday, June 8 we want to hear from you.’

Mr Hilton is white with short wavy brown hair and blue eyes. He wears thin metal-rimmed glasses, and was last seen wearing a blue shirt open at the neck, with a T-shirt underneath the shirt, dark trousers and shoes. He is 6ft 1in and of medium build.
