A CONVICTED murderer from Portsmouth has absconded from an open prison.

Lewis Hoare, (pictured), formerly of Samuel Road, Kingston, walked out of Spring Hill Open Prison near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire at 1pm on Sunday.

He was jailed for life after admitting murder at Winchester Crown Court in 2007.

Police believe he left the prison with another inmate, Kenneth Simmonds.

Hoare is 27, slim, with blue eyes, short brown hair, clean shaven, with a mole on his right cheek, protruding ears and a tattoo ‘Pompy’ across his knuckles.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Joe Banfield said: ‘If any member of the public sees either Hoare or Simmonds do not approach them, instead call 999.’
