A ROBBER who snatched a woman’s handbag is being hunted by police.

The 24-year-old victim was approached by the man who stole her beige River Island handbag.

He forced the bag from the woman’s shoulder and she fell to the ground, hurting her knee, in Bevis Road, North End, Portsmouth.

The robber then fled towards Stamshaw at 3am on Sunday.

The stolen bag contained a peach coloured River Island purse containing cards, a photo keyring, a BlackBerry Bold mobile phone, £15 in cash, and a passport.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Kirsty O’Brien, said: ‘We are appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to come forward.

‘We would especially like to speak to a man who the victim spoke to straight after the incident.

‘I would urge him to come forward as he may have vital information to help our investigation.

‘In addition, if anyone has discovered any items outside their address or near the incident location, which may be those stolen from the victim, please get in touch with us.’

The suspect is white, aged in his early 20s with short, brown hair and 5ft 7ins. Call Det Con O’Brien on 101.
