A thief is being hunted after a valuable part of a vehicle was stolen.

PC Hannah Buckley said a catalytic converter was taken from a vehicle parked in Oyo Business Centre, in Fitzherbert Road, Portsmouth.

It happened between Saturday and yesterday, police said.

Now PC Buckley is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the theft to contact police.

She said: ‘If you saw or heard anything suspicious over the weekend, then we would be grateful if you could contact us by calling 101.’

Police said the part can be worth between £500 in replacement costs for small vehicles to £2,000 for large transit and tipper vans.

Thieves can unscrew them from the underneath of vehicles or use a hacksaw.

Anyone with information should call PC Buckley, of Portsmouth police, on 101.
