A WOULD-BE robber who tried to steal a man’s mobile phone is being hunted by police.

The 32-year-old victim was walking to catch a bus when he was approached by the attacker in an alley between Samson Close and St Nicholas’ Close in Gosport.

He tried to grab the man’s mobile phone but the man managed to fight him off and he fled empty handed at 7.20am on Monday.

The victim suffered minor bruising to his face.

The suspect is white, 5ft 10in tall, pale and skinny with a thin, drawn face and dark brown hair with a fringe.

He wore grey tracksuit bottoms and a blue T-shirt with a vertical line on. Call Det Con Chris Davies on 101.
