A MOTORCYCLIST who died after hitting a lorry on the A3 died accidentally, an inquest heard.

Derry Wilkinson, 39, a film producer from south-west London, had been riding his BMW motorbike on the northbound carriageway near Petersfield on October 3.

He crashed into the back of a stationary lorry, which had been parked in a lay-by.

The court heard how driving conditions on the day had been clear, that both vehicles had no faults and no indication of suicide was found.

Police Sergeant Wayne Voller, of Hampshire police, said: ‘Mr Wilkinson was under investigation for some serious events. He had been charged with certain offences and was due to appear before magistrates courts.’

Details of these charges were not revealed in the inquest.

Portsmouth coroner David Horsley said: ‘It’s quite clear Mr Wilkinson had a lot on his mind.

‘He was distracted for whatever reason and simply failed to see or register there was a lorry in front of him.’
