Inquiries have linked a white Mercedes-type van entering the sailing club at around 3.30am on Friday, October 30.

A police spokesman said: ‘The van spent less than five minutes on site before leaving, indicating that the thieves had not only visited prior to the theft, but had carried out significant preparation and removed security devices from the engines in the hours leading up to the theft.’

Each engine was worth £7,500.

The models were: 30 hp Model E30DPGLAB, Engine No 05413992, Evinrude, black; 50 hp Model E50DPGLAG, Engine No 05428422 Evinrude, black; 50 hp Model E50DPLAFB, Engine No 05398720, Evinrude, white.

Police believe the equipment may have been sold on and are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the model details. Call police with information on 101.
