A SERIAL shoplifter with 52 previous convictions has been jailed for a string of thefts.

Helen Waight pleaded guilty to five shop thefts between July and November.

The 33-year-old, from Buckingham Green, Buckland, stole £300 worth of dresses from New Look in Thackeray Mall, Fareham, on July 16 last year.

She returned five days later and stole tops and dresses from the same shop. It is not known how much those goods are worth.

Waight also stole groceries from the Co-op in Copnor Road, Copnor, on October 21, and fled with £108 of toiletries from Boots in London Road, North End, in thefts on November 30 and December 7.

She also admitted two counts of failing to answer bail. Waight was jailed for 17 weeks by Fareham magistrates.
