Jail for man who hit car window with brick

A MAN has been sent to jail for 10 months after breaking a car window with a brick.

Portsmouth Crown Court heard that Aaron Harding, 23, did not intend to damage the car, which was parked outside his home in Grove Road North, Southsea on December 23 last year.

Harding wanted to break one of his own house windows after he arrived home and could not find his keys. But the brick rebounded and smashed the car’s window instead.

He was given one month in jail for criminal damage and another month for resisting arrest after police were called.

But these crimes activated an earlier 10-month suspended sentence, and are to be served concurrently with that term.

The suspended sentence was given on November 9 last year for possession of a bladed article and assault.

He was arrested after walking down Victoria Road in Portsmouth with a 10in knife in his hand, which he also swung at a road sign.

The assault charge was for spitting at a police officer after his arrest.
