Jogging girls killed in Hampshire road tragedy

Hampshire Police have appealed for information after two girls died when they were hit by a car while out jogging.

The teenagers were struck as they ran on a stretch of road.

Hampshire Constabulary said the girls, who have not been named, were hit by a black Ford Focus on Queens Avenue, Aldershot, shortly after 7.10pm last night.

A 24-year-old man, thought to be the driver, has been arrested and remains in police custody.

A black Ford Focus was later seen being taken away from the scene on the back of a flatbed lorry.

A police spokesman said: “No-one else was hurt and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of what happened.”

Specially trained officers are supporting the girls’ families.
