A JURY in the trial of a man accused of raping a woman has been discharged.

Philip Read, 22, is charged with rape and was in the fourth day of a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court on Thursday.

But in the afternoon the jury of 12 was discharged and sent home. The accusation relates to an incident in March last year.

Read, of Queen Street, Portsea, had pleaded not guilty at a previous hearing.

Another trial date has now been fixed and will take place in June this year.
